It could be that ninjas stole the laptop, gave it to the Russians who then put misinformation on it, then gave it back to the ninjas who then slipped it back to Hunter who then was tricked into bringing it to a repair shop controlled by the CIA who then gave it to the FBI. According to some in the ex-intelligence community it has all the earmarks of that maybe happening. Or it could be that he dropped his laptop in the bathtub and brought it to a repair shop and never went back for it. Hunter's just not sure.
