CSX Heritage: Locomotive 1981 Honoring Pan Am Railways

Our 21st heritage unit is here: Locomotive 1981 honoring Pan Am Railways! Pan Am Railways began operating in 1981 as Guilford Transportation Industries and took on the Pan Am name in 2006. Pan Am joined the CSX family in 2022 and is now an integral part of our New England region. Thank you to the #ONECSX team at Waycross for bringing this unit – and the entire fleet of CSX heritage locomotives to life!

It looks beautiful. I've always loved that blue on the Pan Am Railways units. Being from Maine, I'd like to see CSX do more heritage units honoring the railroads from my state. I'd love to see a Boston and Maine heritage unit as well as a Maine Central Railroad heritage unit since they were acquired by Guilford Transportation (now Pan Am Railways) in the 1980's. The B&M was well as the MEC had been serving New England for well over a century.

The heritage unit that looks somewhat right. I still will always wish they painted the full thing. That goes to all of heritage units.
