ECMAScript 6 brings long-anticipated conveniences while remaining backward-compatible with existing code, but like any other new technology, EMCAScript 6 hasn't been without it's fair share of controversy.

Kit Cambridge, programmer at Black Pearl Systems, visits SFHTML5 and provides a thorough overview of ECMAScript 6. He talks about the path it took to become the language it is today and some of the interesting challenges it's faced. He then dives headfirst into some of his favorite parts of the language.

Thanks for this awesome talk, Kit. You presented some complex subject matter really clearly.

The upcoming ES6 features look amazing, and fix most of the gripes that I have with JavaScript today. Now I just have to wait for this version of the spec to be supported in IE. :)

Is this presentation meant for Douglas Crockford or Brenden Eich to understand ??

More slides with shorter examples would improve the presentation. The order in which the concepts are introduced is also not too logical e.g. "let" keyword used throughout the talk and properly described only closer to the end.
In general it's a good overview of the new features, not too many details but let's you feel the changes in the language.

Extremely self-deluded speaker, bad technology.
