Day 820 - Ecossaise in E Flat, Beethoven - ABRSM Grade 3 - Piano Progress

Ecossaise in E flat is probably the most difficult piece I've played so far. It really has felt like a step up regarding how my hands are literally flying all over the place. When I started it I thought there was no way I would be able to play it, but it has come together nicely.

It was a good piece for learning and I've picked up some good practice methods that I will take forward into future pieces.

This recording is as good as I am going to get for now. It's a bit sloppy in places and that's probably due to the speed. I hadn't realised I was playing it quite this fast now. I recorded another slower version that was tighter but it lacked the energy, so I went with this one.

The YouTube piano progress community is incredibly supportive. But, YouTube isn't always the best way to communicate. As such, some of us have established a Discord server where we can get together and discuss our piano journies.

Just noticed that I'd spelt Ecossaise as Ecosaisse everywhere, including in the video. 🤦‍♂

The hard work has paid off, well done. Your comment about a piece seeming insurmountable, but then later discovering you CAN play it, is the same thought process I go through with pieces.

Hi Daniel! When I was hesitating to purchase a piano and start learning, I searched what google thought about starting at 40 and it got me to your videos. 5 weeks in, progression is fast and exciting, the effort is hard, and I still like your videos. Thank you for sharing your progression, you are doing great! You showed me that it was possible to reach an honorable and enjoyable level in a realistic time (given practice and focus and, I suppose, it's like a hike: to each their own pace), thanks a lot, Daniel :) (I also like the way you are taking your learning very strategically, by regularly challenging yourself and investing in your skills for future projets)

Very nice. This is one of my picks. Will be getting around to doing some video's soon but still not quite ready for the exams. I am taking my time with grade 3.
