Montoto at MoCA-Americas. A unique opportunity to see his work and understand his creative process

Next Friday, January 20th, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas will open the exhibition "Manuscript in a Bottle" by Cuban artist Arturo Montoto. This is his first solo exhibition in the United States. The museum is honored to showcase the work of a well-established national and international figure and reference in the art world.

Montoto received a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Surikov Institute in Moscow in 1984, specializing in mural painting. He is also a draftsman, engraver, sculptor, and photographer. He is also a professor at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana and has been the Head of the Painting Department since 1990. He has also taught several theoretical-practical courses for professional artists in Chile and was invited to a residency at the University of Maine in Augusta, United States, where he shared his experiences in painting, drawing and gave several lectures on his own work. In 2008, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI) in the category of Knight, he also holds the Certificate of Appreciation (Association of Latin American Art and Contemporary Artists Dictionary) for his contribution to the development of Hispanic culture in the United States.

He has over 40 solo exhibitions worldwide and numerous group exhibitions. Our exhibition will be open to the public from 6 pm on January 20th, 2023, and will run throughout the rest of the month and all of February. Most of the paintings on display were painted at the end of last year and have not been publicly exhibited before. The exhibition is a unique opportunity to see his work and understand his creative process.
