Still my favorite episode. The boys acting for one was amazing. Two, we learn more about the characteristics of Dr House here than any other episode, and the way it carries over into the other episodes is very much unlike the other patients he felt with… that psp shows up so often and has such an underlying importance.

house is usually a jerk to his patients and their family... this was an exception. he understood and engaged way better with the kid than any of the other "empathetic" doctors who usually criticise house on his behavior

I have to admit house engaging the boy in a appropriate manner that he understands was pretty good to see. Everything is like a stranger showing up and trying to shove you in a van. House showed that the thing was safe.

As the parent of an autistic son, I really appreciate this episode. My son is still very young, and not as severely autistic as this boy, but we still struggle with communication and trying to understand his needs and how best to help him navigate a world that's not built for him.

The last scene of this episode, where the parents are thrilled when their boy looks House dead in the eye while handing over his game console, makes me cry. It's so true. When my son looks me in the eye, choosing to pull himself out of that rich inner world in order to share some moments with me, it is the most wonderful feeling in the world. It's something parents of neurotypical children may take for granted, but I never will.
