Executive Mayor of Tshwane Metro Cilliers Brink says he welcomes the report of the Public Protector into the Hammanskraal water crisis.
The report was released six months after a cholera outbreak resulted in 166 confirmed cases and 30 deaths due to the outbreak.
The mayor says he commits to abide by the remedial actions as ordered by the PP.
Brink says the dysfunctional state of the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant is a stain on the conscience of the City, including various administrations.
The City has been given 60 days to sort out the situation.
The report comes amid a drawn-out strike with a huge financial loss to the metropolitan.
The violent protests resulted in damage to infrastructure and the torching of municipal buildings.
Mayor Brink joins us virtually to discuss the position of the City on these issues, as well as the City's current engagements with stakeholders in the energy sector to pursue energy-security for the City.
