How to stop biting your nails from the root cause up (psychology)

Because only when we know and address the very root cause of our nail biting, we can stop the root together with its symptoms like nail biting once and for all.Of course we can only address the symptoms
like applying bitter tasting polish to the nails, like keeping our nails trimmed short, like wearing gloves or covering nails with tape or stickers…although these external solutions may discourage you from biting nails, but it doesn’t actually solve the root of the problem at all.

Enjoy the video!

My nail-biting started when I was a very young child. It started out as a distraction from all the chaos and trauma, and the biting would be constant, happening at any and all times of the day. I'm almost 40 now, and even though there've been periods of no biting, I still find myself biting - but now it's only when I'm watching TV at night. So it's when everything is done - my hands are free - and I can finally relax. The biting does the exact opposite of course, and just dials up the anxiety and tension. The crazy part is the biting has escalated - I've never bitten my nails this badly or this short. My fingertips have never been this sore and injured. So I definitely know something is trying to "escape". I've done so much healing through the years, so I feel like this is my body telling me I'm almost there, and that there's one big step I still need to take. Healing is not linear, nor is it a destination, I believe for many of us it's for a lifetime. But I do believe once we get through the biggest hurdles of healing, it can then become manageable and feel a lot easier. Good luck to all of you, and I wish you absolute peace and health. xx

At 3 years old my mother married a mean man. He hit her and was loud and mean.
I believe I began biting my nails then. He would put hot sauce on my fingers. The only thing that did was make me love hot sauce. Lol..but I still bite my nails now. I'm 63. I've been been doing healing g work for 7 years now. Have quit drinking, quit various drugs, quit having violent relationships, and other negative issues, but can not quit biting, or smoking.!!!

Wow, This is exactly what I was looking for. I am overcoming a lot of the distractions stated. I have dealt with low self esteem my whole life. I was overweight most of my childhood up until the 10th grade and I have been carrying this subconsciously my whole life. I came across this because I am currently focusing on self Improvement in every way.

I'm 61 yrs young. I have been biting my nails since I was four. I'm the second child and my older sister, 17 months older, . whom was my security, and we are to this day very close. I My Parents went away for a month and separated us. My sister stayed with another aunt and uncle . We only saw each other once that month. Bad enough I was away from my mom and dad, but my sister too! My mom said when she came home she noticed I had started biting my nails and my TOE nails. 4 you're still very flexible I guess. I'm now 61 and since covid, (when I retired) my nails are now below the quick! Thank you I'm going to seek a psychologist to assist me with this path you've set out. It is so harmful to my self-esteem

I am at my 8th day without biting, will keep doing it to end this forever.
BTW the fact that I am sometimes an impulsive buyer now explains the distraction theory, that's why I never feel happy for long.
Amazing insight thanks you!

The fact that this video is not the first one to pop up when looking up the subject is disheartening.

Instead it's a bunch of entitled ladies who clearly never suffered from the issue, whose solutions boil down to "Paint ur nails 💅 you won't want to let the effort you put into paining your nails 💅 go to waste" (as if I need more dysphoria), "Think about the damage you're doing to your teeth🤢" and "Think about the germs on your hands 🤢".
