Written by Midge Ure, Billy Currie and Chris Payne. Produced by Viage and Midge Ure.

Classic synth-pop recording from a band formed in London in the late 70s. Their members included Midge Ure, who went on to write “Do They Know It’s Christmas” with Bob Geldorf in 1984.

Visage signed with Polydor in 1980 after their first single, “Tar” failed to chart when released on the smaller Radar label. The disc went to #8 in the UK, to #3 in France and to #1 in Germany. The ensuing album, simply titled “Visage” reached #13 in the UK, #1 in Germany and to #178 in the US.

A couple of more albums followed – including the UK #6 charting, “Anvil” in 1982 – and some hit singles, such as “The Damned Don’t Cry” (UK #11, Germany #39) before the band broke up in 1984.

Midge Ure was also a member of Thin Lizzy and Ultravox and had a successful solo career which included a #1 UK hit single, “If I Was” in 1985.

“Fade to Grey” was released in the UK in November 1980; this pressing is the German release.
