China Airlines A350 Business Class: Expectations V Reality

I'd heard a lot of good things about China Airlines but had never flown them. So when I was offered a spot on their inaugural flight between Melbourne and Auckland I jumped at the chance.

But whilst I was invited to join the celebrations of the first flight by China Airlines I was given total editorial freedom and this flight review video shows you exactly what it's like and whether it lived up up to my high expectations.

China Airlines is the national carrier of Taiwan and has its home base in Taipei. In addition to its extensive network in Asia they fly long haul to Australia, Europe and North America. China Airlines positions themselves as a luxury airline. So what are they really like and do they live up to their claim?

That seat is the Super Diamond business class seat by Collins Aerospace. The same seat used by British Airways on many of their updated business class sections, and many other airlines’ business class offerings.

I first flew China airlines over 2 decades ago, and in economy. The ticket was dirt-cheap, but the service was excellent. Those folks can make even sardine class a little better. Glad you were not disappointed by your flight in business. A hard-working friendly cabin crew dedicated to giving their passengers the best flight possible.

G'day, Dennis. HNY. I flew MEL-TPE-LAX return in June 2018 on the A350. I had a free layover each time in TPE. Long haul to the USA was a breeze. I was impressed with all aspects of this product.

Noooo don't tell everyone! Discovered China Airlines for Long Haul FRA-SYD last year and LOVED it... brilliant business class - crew were just charming. Completely underrated - I love the look on everyone face when they ask who I flew with (usually Qatar or SQ). 😉There is also a fab lounge in Taipai if you have a bit of a layover - great shower facilities and food.

China Airlines is seriously underrated - and is a great choice to travel from SEA to the USA. The business class lounge at Taipei airport is fantastic - with showers that you can book and are cleaned before your use. Fantastic soft and hard product on the plane for its price point too.

I haven't flown China Airlines since the mid 80's. On a 747SP no less.

What a great start to waking up in 2025 here in Ireland! Waking up to a Dennis video! I appreciate how transparent you were about you being given a chance to hop onto this flight. I love their ambience in the business cabin - the little lamp adds a beautiful cozy vibe. I would love for you to try this seat for a longer flight (or perhaps even EVA or Starlux - as the Taiwanese carriers are quite underrated or underpublicised). As I have always said, I love how you never sound entitled even though you pay top buck while traveling (just like Jeb Brooks and Gabe Leigh). Looking forward to more reviews in 2025 and happy new year!

Have to say, of all the interiors I have seen, China Airlines tops them all in my book. I love that cozy "Zen" vibe, very stylish without being over the top or tacky.

I would agree that they are an excellent carrier having flown them long haul from Australia to Europe- the food choice is fantastic and as highlighted the drinks menu is equally great -nice video

Looks like a wonderful airline. I'm in the USA and am considering a trip to Australia, so I will look into China Airlines. I need to break up the flight, so a Taipei visit would be nice. Thank you.
