In this video, author and mental health educator Douglas Bloch talks about a principle that has been instrumental in his recovery. It is called "Keeping The High Watch." Keeping the high watch means holding in consciousness the highest and best outcome for a person or situation. The situation usually involves a person facing a challenge or difficulty which they don't believe they can overcome. In this situation, other people can believe for them what they cannot believe for themselves

What a beautiful and useful video, thank you Douglas. I remember speaking on the phone to a close friend at one of my most difficult points, and asking them to tell me that I was going to get through this. Hearing those words said to me really helped.
Wishing you a speedy recovery with your knee.

I have been working me way through depression for the past 5 months. I am at a point that I don’t fully meet the criteria for clinical depression but I still suffer from low moods frequently much more often than the cheerful person I was pre depression. Is in your experience how it works when you are getting out? Like more good moments but still some really low moments?
