The thing about price vs. other flagships is that they lack the same features and flexibility. You can pop 512gb or 1tb of extra micro SD storage in your phone, which blows those Samsung/Apple price comparisons out of the water for similar storage. I've got every smartphone photo and video I've ever taken stored locally on my 1iii, and I still have 200gb to go on the device and 360gb to go on my card.

I've had the Xperia 1 mark ii for over a year now and It's been a fantastic phone overall. Highlights have been the very manual control photo pro app and camera system (along with physical shutter button), the 4K OLED screen and front facing stereo speakers for content consumption, and the slim form factor.

i've had mine for a week now. the performance has been amazing! very fast and very responsive. i absolutely love the FULL SCREEN(no hole punch garbage)!😍 it's one of the main reasons why i bought the 1iii. i'm not too big into resolution on a phone, because...well, quite frankly, it's not a big deal. i heard that it gets uncomfortably hot, but i haven't had that issue.

however, i hate the fact that i have to live with a game that takes up 2.5GB of space. i've never played ashpalt 9 and don't plan to. i've also been one of the unlucky ones that has this rebooting issue while charging or when the battery is above 95%. it's a software bug that sony is aware of and is working on. until that fix comes though, the battery lifespan will be taking a huge hit. i don't like that i can't hide the navigation bar as well. so everything that i don't like is software related and can be rectified.

Nice review. My old Xperia xz1's limited storage and outdated OS made me decide to finally upgrade. I wanted another phone with an in-power button finger reader, dedicated shutter button and SD card slot. That pretty much limited me to Sony. After waiting months for the 5 III to finally release, I was about to buy it when I noticed a frosted silver 1 III 512GB on Amazon for $1149. I didn't previously consider the 1 III, but then I bought it on the spot. I just hope it fits in my pocket.

Nice video i coulnd agree more . And yes the front camera is nt the best but just as you mention under the right condition you can get some usefull selfies . I have the Xperia 1 iii since the 10 of august and have no problems with it and just as you said it is a strongly underarted phone . One more thing you can update Xperia 1 iii ( 1 August Security patch it fixes some smale isues ) man keep up the good work . And thanks for the video .

Just some other points to consider apologies if you did touch on one or two them.

1. SD card storage and of Duel Sim
2. The Sim tray is tool free so you do not need a tool opener its done with your fingers for ease of use
3. Camera button is zoom focus sensitive so you only have to slightly press to capture the focus length if necessary
4. Finger print scanner is situation in the power button (indented) below volume rockers.

Camera:
This is where it shines and I appreciate you that covered the basics. In a nutshell this will deliver amazing results and you have to dig well below the surface of the top menu settings you see. That aside it’s known as an ‘enthusiasts’ phone or as I like to say a Tinkers phone. You set up the shot pending the light sources eg daylight or low light etc whatever the circumstances are, including the ISO settings and macro lens adjustments. If you want to just use the automatic feature that’s fine then you’ll get the standard just as highlighted on this video. So the whole point of the camera and filming set up it’s not to just allow for basic light configurations for example the new iPhone 13 looks really great with a cinematic way of working but actually it’s the lighting that makes the difference not necessarily the software. However what you do do is when you’ve recorded you can go back and you can read it very easily the structure of the video or camera that you have taken this is a really neat trick so that professional users would do this if they felt the conditions were not great in the first place.

So basically this is a tinkering phone Sony model this on their professional model version using exactly the same engine architecture which is $1000 more but is designed purely to be used as a video cinema graphic tool. So you are getting real professional grade cameras and video cinematic system for half the cost.

The ZEISS lens has a stella mechanical operational focus allowing realistic shots to be made perfect. Unlike any other phone including the new iPhone 13 this would not be possible and this is truly where the Sony phone shines and is also misunderstood especially by most reviewers to be honest.

The whole speed of this phone is super fast I’m not just fast but as Drew mentioned it has a refresh rate of 120 Hz on a 4K enabled screen so you combine the speed with the slick silky smoothness of Sony‘s excellent screen technology. Sony themselves have stated that this phone has not been marketed mainstream because it is designed for a more specific target user. That said everything on this phone is top end high-performance with excellent build quality, there is nothing quite like this phone on the market.

With regards to the sound it has its own Sony built-in DAC module this is also high-end and if you want to use the phone Jack you will benefit immensely from the sound quality. Again you will not get any other phone on the market temperature use the sound quality the Sony can and that is a fact.

To summarise this phone is beyond impressive and yes I am being biased but then again having used a vast array of phones and also has a pro camera user I cannot not be bias. One last thing to note is I recommend the Sony case for the phone it also has an handy flip stand on the rear it’s incredibly light well thought out and fits really snug just perfect. Nice review, but as soon as u said the phone was fast charging I kinda spaced out because only an iPhone user would think that 30w charger on a 4500mh battery is particularly fast.

Yeah Sony is the only manufacturer that does things differently, sadly tho they really have this horrible launches and non-existant PR campaign. Also mainstream reviewers tend to totally undervalue all of the unique features it offers and nitpick every small mistake and hate it just because it doesn't tick some of the mainstram trend boxes. I don't know but there is so much varying information about this device. Large reviewers hate it and small ones love it.

Why don't the Sony phones have icon numbers on their app icons? This is one of the things that stopped me from getting an Xperia

I think a lot of people are sleeping on Sony, cinema pro app is something I wish other manufacturers *cough APPLE *cough would do 😂 would love that level of control native on an iPhone

I used 4 devices to watch this video and I have to disagree on the camera footage the pic's look like crap don't know what you were looking at but pics were all out of focus.
