It would've been sick if you'd do the Famous Studios Version

I'm actually glad A.A.P. stepped in and had the Popeye cartoons to themselves instead of them getting chopped by U.M.&M.

It range from 1933 through summer of 1941, when the opening theme of Popeye cartoon with a ship double doors are opened and closed again.

All things considered -- it's a little backwards, especially when you consider
how long we've been looking for all the original titles of the Paramount shorts.

Aside from that many of these are very well done, especially at 1:45.

As we all know, when U. M. & M. acquired Paramount's pre-1950 cartoon and shorts library in early 1956, the Popeye cartoons were NOT included in the deal because King Features (who still owns Popeye) owned half-interest in them with Paramount- and they asked for a price U. M. & M. wasn't willing to agree upon {King/Hearst wanted a million dollars for their share, while U. M. & M. paid $3.million for the rest of the Paramount inventory}. Elliot Hyman's Associated Artists Productions finally did business with King Features and Paramount, shelling out $1.8 million for the Popeye cartoons in April 1956.

In hindsight since Paramount later ended up with the UM&M package anyway years later it's like Paramount never sold them to Turner/Warner in the first place since AAP ended up with Turner and Warner after UA and MGM bought AAP. Or in the case of the 1952 to 57 shorts to Harvey that today is handled by Universal.
