Melbourne Airport is not immune to these conditions with the Airport experiencing persistant 100km per hour wind gust.

These conditions make it difficult for all pilots and those featured here did a great job landing their respective planes.

Qantas A380-842 (VH-OQB)
Cathay Pacific A350-900 (B-LRA)

Wow! Some of those planes were gorgeous and were handled so well in such strong winds. Smooth sailing with those pilots!!!

That A380 landing looked smoother than a butterfly landing on a flower. Awesome video!

Fantastic! I once took off from Heathrow in such strong winds that the plane felt like it had tipped on its side, it was terrifying, the curtain had come entirely aside to reveal a steward/attendant with his eyes closed and praying. I cried when I saw that lol, I thought if he’s scared then this is pretty bad!

I simply love how the back row of the A330 main landing gear, touches down first. As i believe the pilot could feel the "touch" through the pilot seat to their assess before they gently lower the nose to place the nose gear down while deploying thrust reversals at the same time. Truly magnificent.

Great stuff Schony747! I must say the China Airlines crew executed the best landing outta all the planes there.

I would have preferred to see some of the smaller aircraft such as the 737's dash 8's and saab 340's as it would have been an eye opener watching them come in against 100km winds!

Different sized Aircraft, differential wind gusts, some of the comments appear to show complete ignorance of the facts that Wind Gusts, loading of the aircraft, landing characteristics are all different, these are amongst the best airlines and crews anyway and the wind was NOT across the runway but straight down...great video however, I wish there were more like it. Thank you.

You should have named this video : Smoothiest landings in Melbourme.
The strength of the wind is not the issue, only crosswinds and winshears are. In this case the wind was right facing the aircraft, so no problem!

I was hoping someone was out there today and uploaded some vids. If you've got any take-off ones upload em' too! I think it's great to see these beauties effortlessly lift and seemingly float up and away in these conditions.

Sorry @schony747... not buying your 100kms. Airports will shut down at 50knots (95km) . Most pilots wont even attempt landing Above 40 knots. FYI Category 1 Hurricane wind speed is 119kms. Good video but bad data points.

I can't even land that nicely with no wind in FSX
