I had this conversation tonight in a novel-writing community. A writer and director are co-creators. We writers don't write things like shots into the screenplay; those are up to the director. Directors can also serve as middle men between the writer's vision and actors/producers. Absolutely a collaborative effort. Be careful if you insist on your "art;" the movie may not sell or ever get made. I only watched the first 12 mins so far, and I will watch the rest of it as time permits. *Great video, Film Courage 2!*
