This season really did such daring things that stand out amongst every other season. Atem’s first true loss, his emotional break down and from a mistake he himself made, and him now being alone without his host partner/friend for a good chunk of the season.

That's very powerful, seeing Yami Yugi cry goes to show a side of him even battle city couldn't hold. He had visibly more emotion than ever and while Yugi crying's something we've seen, this is a rare time Yami's had tears onscreen.

Has anybody noticed through the series Atem always looked at Yugi like he was in a trance.

Atem: "Yugi! Don't go into the light, Yugi!" **cradles Yugi in his arms** "It's probably just Swords of Revealing Light and it'll make you unable to attack for three turns!"
Yugi: "Pharaoh...I'm proud of you. By winning this children's card game, you've overcome the darkness within your heart. Truly, winning this Duel has made up for any and all bad stuff you might have done, including sacrificing my soul because you really, really wanted to beat a guy that you just met."
Atem: "Yugi...don't go..."
Yugi: "It'll be alright, Pharaoh. And hey, at least we won't be definitely having a Duel and be separated again next season. That would just make this whole character arc feel completely superfluous, wouldn't it?" **vanishes**
Atem: **after sobbing for several moments** "What the f*ck even is this season?!"

Yami:(started to cry) Now what? Me:(gasps in distress) Yami, look!!!! Yugi is disappearing!!! Yugi don't go!!! Yugi:Now u have to go and rescue am always with u to cry) Yugi:Don't u worry Jackie...I am always with u in spirit....One more thing Pharaoh...Yami:What is it? Yugi:Don't u forget about me and Jackie....Please treat my friend more tears) I will... (Yugi is finally disappearing for good) Yami:I WILL SAVE Yami:No matter what it takes....(shed some more tears and started to cry) harder)
