Ironically the United States and George Washington needed help from Puerto Ricans to gain their independence from England. Soldiers from Puerto Rico under the command of Bernardo de Galvez governor of Louisiana fought for the American Revolution for the independence of the 13 American colonies and they also fought at Bunker Hill. The United Nations has recognized Puerto Rico as a colony of the United States and has issued over 40 resolutions telling the United States to grant independence to Puerto Rico immediately and the defenders of freedom and democracy have ignored all of them. Even American citizenship was imposed on Puerto Ricans and thousands of Puerto Ricans have paid with their blood for a forced citizenship.
