I totally agree! And it’s a good way to show your kids that you respect them just as you ask them to respect you. We must teach our kids to think critically for themselves. And of course, teach them to question authority in a respectful manner. It works. My 7 kids are awesome. Good communicators, respectful, kind and don’t take sh** from anyone.

I'll be honest this is good. Working in help desk the amount of people who cannot say I don't know or I don't know what that is or I'm not sure is astounding.
They will say and do the craziest things to not say that they don't know something.

Questioning authority is a little bit different than questioning someone’s reasoning.
Whenever I can, I explained my reasoning to my children to my family. But on the rare occasion, I give an order with no explanation they will fallow it without bc of the relationship.

"Because I said so" either shuts down a child's natural curiosity or teaches them they can't ask their parent questions. They'll probably find their own way to find an answer and you're not gonna like where they'll find them🥴

I disagree, kids need to respect their parents and authority. Saying I don't know is not the same thing as things like needing to follow rules.

so sorry but i disagree... when that child grows up questioning authority and gets into the working world... they'll end up in trouble for being insubordinate... they'll end up with a non-violent resisting arrest charge... they'll be held in contempt of court.

there are lines that shouldnt be crossed... regardless of how you were raised.
