Singer’s attorney says agreement gives his client the ‘freedom’ that ‘she desired’
Britney Spears and her estranged father have agreed to settle a legal dispute that continued between them even though it had been more than two years since a court terminated the conservatorship that put him in control of the US pop star’s life.
Terms of the settlement between the singer of the chart-topping hit Womanizer and Jamie Spears weren’t disclosed in statements that their attorneys distributed to media outlets on Friday.
Spears’ attorney, Matthew Rosengart, would only say that the agreement had given his client the “freedom” that “she desired”. “She will no longer need to be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter,” Rosengart added.
Jamie Spears’s attorney Alex Weingarter, meanwhile, told CNN that his client was “thrilled that this is all over”.

Watching older videos of Britney makes me so sad. The industry and her family literally destroyed her soul. And that is really hard to see. She seems like a shell of her former self and she was such a fun and bubbly presence.

They settled because the expenses during the conservatorship were approved by the court during the time of the conservatorship. She could have had her accounts audited of her entire conservatorship but what they would find out is that each month/quarter, the bills were approved so there was never a case against her father. I'm not anti Britney but work in law and have a family member under a guardianship in a different state but similar guidelines. Her legal counsel should have made more effort to counsel her on the laws that effected her and what they can logically do at that point.

Winning the court case against her Father was a huge uphill battle. Rosengart wasn’t just up against Jamie and Lou and the Con-ship. Ultimately he was up against the entire Los Angeles court system. Remember, the courts had complete oversight and authority over Britney’s con-ship. So if Rosengart was able to prove illegal activity and corruption within the Con-ship, Jamie could basically shift blame onto the LA court system because they were overseeing and approving everything that was done to Britney. So then you’re in a situation where Rosengart is in a legal battle against the LA court system, within the LA court system. With a LA county judge presiding. While the previous judge who had ultimate oversight over the con-ship is retired and basically immune from any legal repercussions for her actions. It would have been years of hearings and depositions and pushbacks etc…It’s been obvious since the beginning that the LA courts were working against Rosengart by allowing Jamie’s lawyers to waste time, refuse depositions, deliberately provide Jamie with excuses and legal cover when Jamie and his lawyers withhold vital legal documents and accounting that should have been readily available. The LA courts have a massive conflict of interest and this case should have been moved to federal court immediately after Rosengart took over. That is the only way Britney would have even had a chance at winning or holding anybody in the con-ship accountable.

Looking at the industry, I believe she is still under control of the same kind of so-called management she has always been. Which protects her parents and throws her under the bus. I honestly think her behavior is because she has so much trauma. Yes and probably on meds for pain or depression. But could absolutely be side effects of drugging her from before. No doubt they gave her things that she didnt need. I hope she is getting better and can move on happily.
