Freedom and Prosperity: The 2019 Index of Economic Freedom

The Index evaluates government policies and economic conditions in 186 countries. Since its inception in 1995, the Index, an annual cross-country analysis by The Heritage Foundation, has tracked the progress of economic freedom around the globe and measured the real impact of advancing economic liberty.

The 25th anniversary edition provides compelling evidence of the dynamic benefits for individuals and societies from greater economic freedom. Around the world, governments that respect and promote openness and free markets provide greater opportunities for innovation, progress, and human flourishing.

Bermuda is an archipelago consisting of 181 islands, although the most significant islands are connected by bridges and appear to form one landmass. It has a land area of 54 square kilometres (21 sq mi). Bermuda has a sub-tropical climate, with mild winters and warm summers. Its climate also exhibits oceanic features similar to other coastal areas in the Northern Hemisphere, with warm, moist air from the ocean ensuring relatively high humidity and stabilising temperature. Bermuda lies in Hurricane Alley and thus is prone to severe weather; however, it receives some protection from a coral reef and its position at the north of the belt, which limits the direction and severity of approaching storms

Ecstatic for my country United Kingdom's improved score to take 7th place, we seem to be on a trajectory towards becoming a "free" economy next year.

We would be comfortably the largest free country as well, ahead of Australia who have 36% of our population. It might just be my 2nd favourite country looking at it objectively behind America now. Although we don't have the best system of governence which would fall to Hong Kong, Hong Kong is a very exclusive country with a small population which I think is an important factor when considering what's the *best* country rather than just being about economic freedom.
