The texture similar to freshly baked bread, which is why it’s called breadfruit🍞#howtowithjessie

I'm indonesian. This fruit called "sukun" in my country, and you can get it for free in my village, there's many breadfruit trees... we often fried it and eat it together while still warm with a cup of java coffe or black tea 😊

I’m Jamaican and grew up with it a lot (it’s kinda expensive) and it wasn’t my favourite. My grandma would either boil it for my grandpa or roast it and then fry it. In some parts of the island they wait for it to get old bc it’s sweeter that way. If you get it again and like it sweeter leave it out until the skin is easier to press into and then roast and fry it. And if you like it less sweet eat it with callaloo if you can get your hands on it. Best Sunday breakfast.

I was so happy when I finally found breadfruit in my part of the US back home we would make a small x in the bottom and roast it over coals/wood fires. It’s tricky you have to do it long enough to cook it but not so much that it will be dry when cut into. I find roasting it to be the best way to achieve the bread texture, it’s best warm with some butter and favorite choice of meats and gravy very good with stews. The left overs you slice into wedges the length of the fruit a 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and shallow fry on both sides till golden great with stews like liver and onions, shakshuka or breakfast items. You can also let it sit and ripen a little for a bit of sweetness when roasted, and add the ones not fit for roasting into soups. 😊

You dont grow breadfruit from a seed. You sprout from a cutting or usually the root sprouts and you plant that

I love breadfruit! Very versatile. Unfortunately you won’t find any seeds in it. It is grown from getting a “slip” from the mother plant (which is like, a baby plant growing from a part of the root of the mother plant)

I believe it's been picked early. I boil mine when it starts getting soft then the leftovers get fried 😋
We eat plenty of them in Fiji when it's the season.

In Seychelles we boil it in coconut milk with sugar and vanilla essence. Great dessert!!

My father has told me stories about when he lived in the Cayman Islands. He used to eat these all the time with friendly neighbors. I tried looking it up once but I couldn’t find anything he could recognize. I’m glad I found this video.

Mostly grown in Africa and Jamaica, this is very, very small company the one's in Jamaica, I love baking this in an open fire or oven for the beautiful smell. Jamaica, and Africa breadfruit are just the best.

I just sliced open a breakfast that I got from tropical fruit box. There are no seeds in it whatsoever I was so disappointed. Good luck with your breadfruit let me know if you find any seeds in the next one. ☺️🤗🥰🌱🌿

Never tried Breadfruit, but I'm game on trying it, it'd be like eating a piece of bread just picked(or bought at the market)! :)
