I have this device in Black. It didn't have that rubber coating on it. With the compatibility for the NES, mine can play the code master games but i cannot play Dragon Warrior (dragon quest) nor Excitebike on it. And those are licensed NES games.
My device still gets a lot of use. I mainly play rpg games on it. Having the ability to play it anywhere is a plus. Especially when the wife and kids want to use the tv where my snes is connected.

I worked at a retro game store for 2+ years. This item sat on our shelf for the entire duration of my employment. It stuck around for so long the management decided just to throw it away. I grabbed it from the trash and used to play it every so often. The cartridges made it very awkward to handle. And I wasn't going to just carry around a sack of SNES games. Once I discovered the rg351, I bought that and I gave the SNES duo to a buddy. Who after seeing my 351 decided he would save up for that.

Even though I'm content with my Retroid Pocket 2 and other two handhelds. I still like to watch these. It's fascinating seeing all the retro stuff China cranks out. Channels like Wicked helped me pick the gold from the turds and find amusement in the plastic fantastic crap.

I've had one for a few years now. Got it on sale for like $50. It's not bad, but it's literally just a cart tester for me. It may be decent with bootup compatibility, but while in games you'll notice how compatible it truly is. There was a bunch of games that would not display backgrounds or enemies for whatever reason. The one that sticks out the most was Magical Quest, the second boss (Spider Pete) didn't appear on the screen, EVER (even after multiple bootups). So yeah it's not great but it's decent to test carts quick.

Its missing 2 controller ports like the Supaboy had. That turns it into a portable console which is way more comfortable to play on the go.

Those things are GREAT if your'e a collector of physical cartridges, having the ability to test every game everywhere is pretty nice.
I wish you mentioned the format those things support because a lot of them don't handle PAL very well.

I have one of these. It was fun but it didn’t last long. The coating did get super sticky after awhile. I had to use IPA on it to remove the super stickiness on it. The cartridge slot is to loose so carts wiggle back and forth. This causes game crashes.

I have one and it was okay for about a year but then any little movement would reset the game. Also the screen seemed to get more and more dim with time. I ended up retiring my Retobit Duo Portable, and replaced it with an Evercade.

What happens when the cartridge has some add-on chips on it like the superFX? Will this drain the battery noticeably faster?

Any idea if there is a jamma pandoras box that runs dreamcast or if they are planning on making one?, my DX is pretty underwhelming

still would love a portable nes, that has the right button layout. These addon to other handhelds are too bulky
