Idahoan Psalter: Psalm 74

Показать описание
The Idahoan shares his paraphrase of the 74th psalm.
Lyrics:
Why, oh Lord, have You turned a cold shoulder,
To those who seek Your face?
Why, oh Lord, does Your anger smolder,
Against Your chosen race?
Remember, oh Lord, how of old You redeemed us,
To be Your inheritance,
And arise, oh Lord, ‘gainst the foes who’ve bereaved us,
Who plunder Your inheritance!
For Thy sanctuary they do defile,
With the banners they unfurl,
And all the monuments that stand
To Thy truth to testify,
And to the power of Thy hand,
By heroes of old built throughout this land,
They hasten to destroy,
As though to erase our history,
Down to the very last man!
Yet we hear from Thee no prophesy,
Nor see we any sign.
How long will You suffer the adversary,
To reproach all who are thine?
Why, oh Lord, do You withhold,
Deliverance from us?
Our God and King from days of old,
In You we place our trust!
You divided the sea and the rivers mighty,
To clear our fathers’ path.
You slaughtered our powerful enemy,
In Thy power and Thy righteous wrath!
Monsters fearsome and terrible,
With a single blow you smite;
In the wilderness you prepare a table,
Where your people may feast on their meat!
You rule the day and also the night,
And establish the limits thereof,
You prepare the sun to give us light,
From the azure heavens above,
You created the summer, with its warmth,
And the winter with its cold,
You ordained the boundaries of the earth,
In Your wisdom from of old!
Remember Thy covenant, oh Lord,
That You made in our fathers’ day,
And arise to defend Thine own cause, oh Lord,
Against our foes’ blasphemy!
Leave us not, oh Lord, at their mercy—
Or utter lack thereof,
But from oppression set us free,
With deliverance from above!
Darkness fills the earth with cruelty,
In Thine absence, oh Lord,
And oppression drives to poverty,
All who trust Thy word.
Let the poor arise to praise Thy Name,
When You return to them redeem!
