Hi there,
I am happy to be part of these #CareCollab video on Oncidium Twinkle! If you have been following this channel for a longer time you may have seen that this isn't precisly an orchid channel. Nevertheless, orchids are one of my main passions and I am very happy to share, as the channels linked below, how we take care of this beautiful fragant orchid around the world in different setups! And to show for the first time my orchid room. If you are interested to join an update video on this orchid or the #CareCollabs you can also contact Nina from Ninja orchids!

It is so nice to have you join in the CareCollabs 🤩. I live in Portugal and I grow some orchids outdoors all year round, others grow indoors all year round like my twinkles and then most of m orchids live outdoors during summer and have to come indoors only for the winter. It's a bit complicated but we have to take the most of our space and our
orchids. It was also very nice to meet your growing space. Welcome !!!

My dining room is now my grow space! One of my viewers told me that I should stop calling it my dining room, because that is clearly not the case anymore, ... so when I speak of my grow space, well, we don't have a dining room anymore 😎 sounds like we have very similar indoor temperatures in winter. I can't afford to run heat mats anymore either and my supplemental light is on very rarely as I am carrying most of my orchids outside on a daily basis. I am lucky to have spanish winter sunshine. Really appreciate you contacting me about joining CarecCollabs 🙌🏼 and thank you for your video, on such short notice 👍🏼

welcome to the care collab family, nice to see a new face. One correction of note, Twinkles are one of the few Oncidium whose blooming is dependent on photoperiod (a trait inherited from the cheirophorum parent). They will develop spikes at any time, but the spikes will not begin to branch and bud until day length drops below 11 hours (occasionally a rogue spike will bloom at some other time because of the sotoanum influence, but for the most part they are strictly late autumn and winter bloomers) . For me in South Florida, the plants begin their spikes in August and they will sit there for almost four months, and then begin to extend and branch around late November and will bloom in January. Further north, the spikes may initially develop at the same time, but because days grow shorter earlier, those plants always bloom before mine.
