I misspoke regarding Genesis 48:19. That promise was to Ephraim. However, it was an extension of the original promise to Abraham in Genesis 17:4, so the point still stands. :-)

The word Gentile was added during the translation of the New Testament which was originally written in Greek in 350AD, into the Catholic Church Vulgate which was written in Latin, by Saint Jerome in 383AD.
Martin Luther kept it in his translation, 1534.
