Omar Bashir: live session VG Turning East

Omar Bashir stepped out of the shadow of his father Munir Bashir, the one who emancipated the ud as a solo instrument. Omar who has a mixed background (Hungarian and Iraqi) is able to mix the west and the east in his marvelous playing. For Vrije Geluiden he played his composition 'Iraq is crying' and an improvisation.
Vrije Geluiden invited some artists from the festival Turning East in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, November 2017.
