Baptisia Side By Side | Walters Gardens

On June 1, Andrew Jager talked about the Baptisia varieties blooming in our display gardens now. Baptisia is easy to grow and will thrive with little maintenance. There are many potential applications in the landscape including meadow plantings, as a backdrop in borders, or as a specimen. Hardy in zones 3-9!

Very helpful info. Love when you compare. Exactly what we need when putting one in a design. Pls keep doing these.

Very helpful! I was trying to decide on a baptisa all winter but just couldn’t find a good visual comparison. So, this video was great to watch. Which ones do a second flush, just the Lemon Meringue?

Thank you. It would have been helpful if you would add some instructions on care and pruning if needed.

The plants you are showing are they one plant and how old are they before they get to that size?

Do any of these selections successfully host butterfly larvae? I am very interested in the performance of hybrids as host plants and nectar plants vs species and varieties.

How old are each of the very large Baptisias you showed? Do they each grow at the same rates, and are all of the various colors in the same hardiness zones?
