Green Vegetable Bugs (GVB) (Nezara viridula) feed on a wide variety of plants and are an occasional pest of macadamias when they feed on developing nuts and damage the kernel with white spots or depressions. In biodiverse orchards GVB numbers are kept in check by wasps, ants, spiders, predatory shield bugs and Tachinid flies. In 1996 the Feather-legged fly (Trichopoda giacomelli) was introduced into Australia from Argentina as a biocontrol for GVB.
