Most luxurious 40-minute flight: Qatar Airways QSuites and Al-Safwa First Class lounge experience!

In this video we take a special First Class trip on Qatar Airways, but that’s only because that’s what they call business class on flights within the Gulf region. We’re flying QSuites on the quick 40-minute hop from Dubai (DXB) to Doha (DOH) onboard the A350-900. And then, because of this quirk of regional naming, we have access to the Al-Safwa First Class lounge at Doha during the connection. This is possibly the most luxurious combination of air and ground experience we’ve ever experienced on such a short flight.

There’s nothing unusual about calling business class first class. The Americans have been doing that for decades. It’s a way of satisfying entitled customers.

I'm surprised that you got access to the Al Safwa with just a 40 minute DXB-DOH regional F flight connecting to the longhaul J to Oslo. I thought that your inbound had to be longer e.g. A380 from LHR in order to get access. I've been fortunate enough to get upgraded to F from J on their A380 DOH-FRA pre-covid giving me Al Safwa access, but didn't think I could arrive on a short hop in regional F and still get in if I were flying on in J. You had no issue getting in?

pre-pandemic, I was transiting through Doha on Qatar and was offered access to the "First class lounge" for a price.
It was a longish connection so took the offer without researching exactly what was offered.
Went to the Al Safra and had a condescending employee tell me I was in the wrong place and directed to the "other first class lounge", which is a crappy scam.
Beware.
