I mean, this camera sounds incredible, but I will not even consider it. Even if i were a canon shooter, I don't think it would even be a choice unless I was filthy rich... Canon, THANK YOU for doing this. Push all the other camera companies to innovate and further push the industry

YES!! I'm using a 1DXM2 now and we love IBIS, 4k 120fps, 12fps stills (my 1DX is 14fps), 4K raw, enhanced WiFi, rear touch screen, flip screen, and the RF system.

The processing power required for 8K30 and 4K120 10-bit 4:2:2 H.265 will benefit other performance aspects of the camera. Heck yeah I'm buying it!

I rate this as a BUY. I have a C500 Mark II and the 4K video is the closest >feel< to RAW I’ve ever seen, because it oversamples the full frame 6K sensor when recording 4K video. I would buy the R 5 just to record 8K and downscale it to 4K and even 1080.

You should watch Fro Knows, cause he said that Canon confirmed for him that the EOS R5 would be less than $4000.00 USD. It's meant to compete with the A7R IV.

I'm happy with my A7III. Does everything I need. Imagine 8k high bitrate files. Think of the HDD space you'd need for unedited, edited and back ups. Also the cost of an 8k monitor and TV. Plus needing a high spec PC. It's just not worth it unless you do high end paid professional work. If I did that though I'd buy a dedicated cinema camera.

R5, im keen.haha, I sold my C100mark 2 as soon as I heard the specs. I also have some thoughts on how canon are doing this. The 8K raw is easy as the processor actually does less work as there is no internal compression or processing. Its legit just recording 0s and 1s. Then with Canon over the years creating its own Raw codec this allows them to optimise workflows. But it does mean the codec is gonna most likely gonna suck still and destroy everyones computer and Canon will just say it's not their fault haha. But for me I'm not using 8K the 4k 10 bit is noice. The new express cards are a big factor Aswell, it can handle massive file transfers a lot more than an SD. My suspicion is this camera will be as good as they say but with terrible battery life like a black magic pocket and the codecs will be similar to the 1dxmark 2 which every computer hates. Funny how when canon eos r came out, sony fanboys were like oh crop 4K and now they say no body has 4K TV’s 😂, it’s easy if you don’t need it don’t buy it. If it’s too expensive for you then you are definitely not the attended audience.

Hey bro, is your chair low or desk high? Good points you raise I think when you invest in a brands eco system it’s a huge decision to switch over, I think for cannon users it could be a good upgrade, but it does set the industry on fire and all brands will lift which is a good thing. I’d say new entrants to the industry may consider canon as their choice because of this even if they are entering not on the R 5 but have an upgrade path in mind.

My computer could not handle the files and the lenses are too expensive. I can see the advantages of shooting in 8k (cropping flexibility) but nobody is going to be viewing any 8k content. Most people have no need for a 4K tv. Also, most content is viewed on a phone or a tablet. I will be curious to see the record limit times on the R5.

You shoot Sony and I wouldn't expect you to buy it! I wouldn't go mirror less maybe a few years down the road as you have to change a many things. I'm sure Sony will catch up and I'm happy with my camera gear now. Wonder what the storage I'll need..

What I need is a pure mirror-less camera can compete with a7r3. I just sold my old 8 years 5d mark iii and I don't want to buy eos R. Because it has no double card slots. When I see eos r5 I wanna say yeah it has all the feature I want. But it also include a lot of feature I don't want... I mean Im not a video person. I don't want pay those video shooting feature for extra $800. And I hope the body weight of the new camera can be lighter.
