In 1982, Ray Sterbick was caddying at Cypress Point and in need of shelter. So he pitched a tent in the trees behind the 16th hole and lived there in secrecy for months. 40 years later, he’s one of Cypress' longest tenured and most beloved caddies. And, as his looping career comes to a close, he's finally ready to share how he made one of golf's most iconic holes his home.

I played there 2 days ago & Ray was my caddie. What a great human being & it was fascinating talking with him for 18 holes of golf. He's a phenomenal caddie as well & Cypress Point is lucky to have him representing their golf course

as a 17 year old my brother and I hopped the fence and walked 15, 16 and 17. It is heaven on earth. The way Ray describes the walk on those holes chokes me up like nothing else in this world. I consider it the greatest moment of my golf life just walking on that land... and at sunset... DEAR LORD ...
