I'm Choctaw and Chickasaw, my family migrated from Mississippi through Louisiana to Texas, which I live today. Most of us are called "black Americans" today.

Oh my God, you are beautiful, intelligent and insightful. My ancestors were (are) the Mississippi Choctaw (Non Freedman) and decided not to leave Mississippi and were subsequently displaced, having had their lands stolen. We have our records dating back to the early 1800s.

Halito! Yakoke for sharing Chahta Anumpa. It's good to hear the language of our people's spoken. As the other commenter shared, there is a difference in the dialect, some of the words that's spoken depending upon where you come from. The Mississippi dialect is different from the Oklahoma and some of the words are just a little different as well, however. People would be able to know what the other is saying, even if they're speaking different Dialects because it's the same language. Chipisala chike.

My folks are actually Mississippi. However, I haven't spoken in so long. I probably did not spell the last word that I wrote which means. See you later correctly. That's not how you say it to Mississippi way. I know how to say it but I probably would horribly misspelled it. 😃

I’m 1/64, Choctaw mix breed in Texas. I’m oblivious to my heritage and native tongue. May the Great Spirit help me.

My dad's whole maternal line is mixed with Choctaw Indian from the state line Mississippi area and Buckatunna. Like his mom then her mom, her mom and then her mom literally. I realized this like 5 years ago. So going back 4 generations from him.

First off, thank you for encouraging Native American awareness! Nice! I wanted to impart a lil wisdom though. The Oklahoma and Louisiana region share the same language but there are some differences in dialect, just as with any shared language. A brief disclosure of this is always an appreciated step when educating others. Halito = Hah-lee-TOE is how Oklahoma Choctaw pronounce this very important greeting. Also, Chim Achuk Ma = chim ah-chook-MAH(subtle and might sound like there's a ? and slightly ran together). Hope that makes sense!? Keep it up!!!
