A Gettier problem is any example that demonstrates that an individual can satisfy the classical analysis of knowledge - justified true belief - without possessing knowledge.

**Think Further Questions

The coins example makes no sense to me. What exactly does Smith mean when he claims: "The man who will get the job has 10 coins in his pocket"? What exactly is he claiming to know here? It seems imperative to clarify what Smith actually means. It seems very ambiguous to say what he has said without passing reference to a specific person. Either he is referencing Jones (in which case his belief is false) or he means that some man, *any* man, will get the job, so long as the following condition is met: 10 coins in said man's pocket; this would be unjustified nonsense as it claims the coins were the reason that Jones got the job. Not to mention, Jones did NOT get the job, therefore his belief that the coins are the reason for the job would be nonsense even if coins COULD be the reason someone gets a job.
