Thanks Zack Mason and Zen Garcia, this is a very interesting discussion. Just wanted to add that even though there are many pointers to suggest that the current Turkish president will play a pivotal in the setting up of a revived Ottoman Empire/Confederation of nations. I do not think he will be the antichrist. He may rather be the conspicuous horn on the Goat that will go against the Ram (Persia).
Based on Daniel’s Ram and Goat Prophesy (Daniel 8:1:27), the revived Ottoman Empire championed by Türkiye, will defeat/trample Iran (the Ram that will be charging westward and northward and southward). The Turkish leader that will accomplish this (that is the conspicuous horn on the Goat) will be killed and be replaced by four leaders (horns), who may be jointly administering the Empire (or confederacy that was forged to defeat Iran), or may be ruling different regions/zones of the empire:
8 Then the goat became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four conspicuous horns toward the four winds of heaven (Daniel 8:8). This verse categorically rules out Erdogan or the particular Turkish leader that will be in place when this event happens as the antichrist. This is because the antichrist will emerge from one of the four horns that will emerge when this Turkish leader that will defeat Iran will be killed:
9 Out of one of them came a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land. 10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some[a] of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them. 11 It became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown (Daniel 8:9-11).
The character described in the above verse is the antichrist. And his emergence is coming after the demise of the first conspicuous single horn.
