Why was the carrot black? Is it because of the soil around the body of the carrot? Thanks..

What if the carrot base near the greens is actually still a bit green? Not much is, maybe 1/4 " is green.... The rest of the carrots are orange.... Should i wait a bit more till i harvest them?
