In recognition of the passing of Phil Everly, I have uploaded one of the greatest recordings by the Everly Brothers, "All I Have to Do Is Dream" written by Boudleaux Bryant. It was recorded on March 6, 1958 featuring Chet Atkins on guitar, and released as a single on Cadence Records in April 1958, reaching #1 on the Billboard Top 100, R&B, Country, and Most Played by Jockeys charts. The song appeared on The Best of the Everly Brothers their first compilation album, released in 1959 on Cadence. It is available on CD on the Heartaches & Harmonies Box Set on the Rhino label. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video. The sound recording is administered by WMG & HorusMusic. No copyright infringement is intended. The purpose of this upload is for viewer enjoyment and education not for monetary gain.

This song is so touching: it makes me think about the past, about what I lost e I'll never get again: I can only dream...

A very fitting tribute to our beloved Everly Brothers and most especially the late Phillip Everly. Phillip was always my special favorite. He may be gone but never forgotten. Thank you for your beautiful music gentlemen.

These comments are for the enjoyment of all generations. When this song became popular, my older brother was a high school senior and I was a freshman in a small town. We had the best record collection and after basketball games, we would just have a record player up on the stage at the end of the basket ball floor. Everybody had to take their shoes off to dance, so as not to damage the finish on the wood court. My brother and I looked like twins and a lot like the Everly Brothers, too. Some girls knew we could sing well and asked if we would lip sync this song, So my brother and I practiced a little in front of a mirror and started doing it at our local after game sock hops. No youtube/video stuff back then and it was great fun. It seemed like no big deal; it just was the thing to do to make other teens happy. When the song dropped off the charts, we stopped doing it. Again, seemed like no big deal at the time, but just was a happy thing to do. Of course, there are a lot of good memories that come flooding back now when this song is played. It was a very special time. Hope you all enjoy.
