"People weren't idiots in the past" sums it up. I've been a pediatrician for 26 years and will not join the AAP and am not going to renew my American Board of Pediatrics certification. They panicked with covid and went pure political. They threatened all of us to shut up about saying anything critical of covid vaccine policy. Even now the AAP/CDC analysis of VAERS, myocarditis, and vaccine policy is only as deep as the media talking points. I'm so grateful for Vinay!

They tweeted that masking didn't hurt kids and and there weren't any studies supporting that children learned through verbal cues. Absolutely appalling

Interestingly, at the beginning of the pandemic we took out 3 year old son to a speech therapist because he was a late talker. She ended up ordering clear vinyl masks and doing therapy outside without a mask because she said he needed to see her mouth in order to learn proper pronunciation. This is literally common sense.

I’ve been a nurse for 30 years… on day #1 in “Nurses training” we were told that if a patient asks something we don’t know, we were told to say “I don’t know…. but I will find out or find someone that does know.” -Then do it.
Humility in medicine IS A MUST!
Politics and Egos do not belong in medicine.

AAP is not the only medical organization that is broken, failed and hopelessly political.

If the peanut discussion is a metaphor, it applies not just to exposing kids to things that build their immune system, but also to uncomfortable things in life that people now find triggering but never did in prior generations. We are enabling weakness.

He is so correct! He didn't even need to bring up that Pediatricians are recommending cutting off healthy body parts because of psychological disease. Every conference now tells me I need to accept a philosophical/political movement as scientific fact. It is hard to fathom how we got to this point. The crazies are in driving the ship and it is time to bail.

Dr. P. I am an old (retired) RN. When in Nurses training I had an instructor who said to the room of fresh faces ready to learn, "repeat after me, 'I DON'T KNOW '" and she then said - "repeat after me, 'I will find out for you '"

Although not a child, I was dating a man who is hearing impaired. He was angry for losing his hearing in the first place. It took him about 10 years to teach himself how to read lips, and then in one fell swoop overnight, he lost his ability to communicate. The masks made his life harder than it already was. I can't imagine what this did to children.

Add in the “Gender Transition Affirmation’ for pre-adolescents, adolescents and young adults before they are fully formed socially, biologically, psychology? Seems like this should be added to the list of ‘activist’ damages done to the young, impressionable and defenseless to adult psychological assault.

Wife and I made the decision to pull our child out of day care after 3 months (from age at 3-6 mo) and depend on my fellowship income for a year. When I picked him up, he didn't recognize who I was until I pulled down my mask. The workers had to wear masks the whole time. It was worth draining most our savings.

I have been saying that since school went virtual… they USED to say No More than 2 hours per day of screen time!! Suddenly 10 hours per day to protect 90 year old was just DANDY!!

Imagine pre-Covid…walking into a daycare and finding all kids and caregivers masked! Health department would have shut them down and investigated the facility for abuse/neglect.

I have been a pediatrician for the past 23 years and a Fellow of the AAP. Thank you for taking the AAP to task. For years they have told us that the organization does not support Pediatrician but the health and welfare of children. You have more than pointed out that with Covid policy and schools, they have supported the interests of adults over children in our schools. What do they stand for at the end of the day if not children and the best scientific evidence?

I still can’t get past that hundreds of thousands of people were denied medical treatment and left to languish and die, sometimes in the very hospitals where they went for help, when the whole time there were cheap, available, already FDA approved medications that could have saved them.

Thank for exposing this organization! I hope you will someday address their political stance on gender identity, their affirmation recommendation and use of puberty blockers and surgeries on healthy young bodies before they are capable of consent. It’s a horror story.
I too have mostly been left of center all my life. I am very cautious now before I believe anything. I agree we need new organizations.
