Lovely method, you can appreciate the symmetry right from the beginning. I always find it helps me to really understand the workings and thus learn a knot if I can find some symmetry. The inter locking of two simple overhand knots has similarities to the Zepplin Bend, one of my favorite knots for strength, symmetry, ease of untying after loading.
