Varrox Eddy Test & Review. Oxalic Acid Sublimation. Vaporise / Sublimate Those Varroa Mites!!

In this video I test and review the Varrox Eddy varroa mite Sublimator / Vaporiser. I unbox the Varrox Eddy and talk through all its functions and features.
I then test in on a hive of honey bees and show you how to do it. I also run the unit on the roof and film it to see exactly how it works.
Please note In the UK we are only allowed to use Api-Bioxal as treatment instead of Oxalic Acid.
Its also very important that you use and wear the correct PPE when your Vaporising your hives. Oxalic acid is very dangerous as a liquid, powder or gas and I cannot emphasise how important wearing all the PPE is.

At the end of the video I talk about the good bits and bad bits and give you my final verdict on the product and wether I would recommend it or not.

Sublimating is now a growing way to treat your bees for the dreaded varroa mites. Using either Oxalic Acid or in the UK Api-Bioxal. It can be a very effective treatment.
As beekeepers its important that we stay up to date with the latest treatments on the market to maintain maximum bee health and wellness.

If you would like to buy the Varrox Eddy you can buy it from Andermatt on these links.

I use that treatment on the hives that exceed the threshold for mites but do not treat the ones that are maintaining a low mite count. Have you used the butane powered vaporizer? Thanks for the review.

For 3 Mediums Hives versus Deeps, do I use 2 scoops or just do two 1 scoop treatments?

I bought it. I've used it three times, and have yet to see even ONE dead mite in my bottom board after use. Have you actually seen it be effective at all?

Glad I’ve dropped on your channel..
As a new beekeeper with only 5 colonies going into my first winter I’m going down the sublimation route.
I looked at the provap style in 12v but needs a car battery as it’s a heated coil. I like this idea of induction coil to heat needing only a small power supply. Dam site cheaper than the 12v vape (£430)

Great review

Looks like a £30 inductive coil with a battery.

If a beekeeper is constantly gassing their colonies for mites, how can you determine if the bees are mite resistant?

356 quid and you don't add that to your negative list? Its a huge pass from me

New standards of batteries that use the same technology should not be legal ;)

It might just smite those pesky mites :D! BTW - I'm halfway through my foundationless frame experiment. So far so good as far as mites are concerned. The idea seems to be that when the frames are foundationless, the smaller cell sizes that the bees create take less time to finish and cap: this, in turn, interferes with the life cycle of the varroa mite. That's the theory anyway: I'll keep you posted but, yep, so far so good.

not that innovative, its just battery operated wand, plus still kill bees falling on the plate, but nice presentation and video review

That looks like a dust mask being worn.
