You’re pretty spot on with it complimenting the Z1. I use the onyx for more commuting but when I want just a relaxing ride, I break out the S1. Having the super 73 and learning to mod and maintain it was definitely a good first step into being comfortable with doing the same for the onyx.

Great review! I love Super 73 as a company and my S2, but I’ve always had an eye out for onyx! My biggest qualm with this bike and other PEV’s that go faster than 25 mph is how much they blur the line between bike and licensed vehicles. Imagine getting pulled over and trying to explain there’s no license or registration for a vehicle that has the potential to go 50+ mph! It’s starting to feel like if more and more ebike brands keep uping the speed, we’re definitely going to see more restrictive ebike laws in the coming years. But in the meantime, drive safe with that thing, these Michigan roads are ruthless!

I like the Onyx, I test drove one, but I went with the Super73 S2, I like peddaling at times, so I went that route. Going 32 on my Super73 is fast enough for me and I didn't feel that the Onyx would give me more range either just faster, all that said, I do love the look of them and it's incredibly fast feeling.

I decided to go with the Onyx because of your review! The Sur-Ron look to much like a dirt bike! I already have a Ariel Rider Grizzly, so I was looking for more a rode bike! This was a great review! I also bought the 41ah battery!

Nice review. I wanted an RCR back when they had their indigogo campaign a couple years ago, but the buy in was too much at the time. Now I live in a 3rd story apartment. I was conflicted between this, the Sur Ron and Super 73 Rx. Ended up going with the Z1 because of weight (no place to lock up a bike and have to carry it up/down 3 flights of stairs) and the price. Just wasn't sure if an ebike was going to be my thing. I like the Z1 but want more. It's a nice bike for guests tho.
