I think the damning thing about the Dolphin's tanking allegations are that the team set him up to fail. If he tanks for them, and it doesn't work out, and you have the career standing of 1-15 your first year, there goes your head coaching future. It would make his firing make a lot more sense. I have to wonder if the Dolphins ever actually wanted him as a HC, or if they just saw him as a fall guy for the tank.

Those texts are so sad, I feel so bad. He really thought he had a chance at the Giants job and realized they had hired someone else. So sad man it’s heartbreaking

These allegations aren’t very shocking at all.

John Elway showing up to an interview drunk and disheveled is the least surprising part of this story.

Good luck to BF.

As a Dolphins fan, it killed me that Flores was fired- we've accomplished more under him than every other coach literally for the past two decades. This is going to (I hope) sink Ross.

Imagine flores tanked, he would’ve been a scapegoat fired and his reputation would be as a losing head coach. And not given another chance. He’s a great coach, so is eric bieniemy who’s offense is one of the best in the league year in and year out. You can’t tell owners who to hire but the fact these guys aren’t getting jobs and joe judge (a special teams coach) does is crazy lol

I would think that owners attempting to fix games (if true) should result in forced sales and permanent bans from football.

They left Brian Flores with no other option. "Communication issues" pretty much kinda insinuated to every other team that he is hard to get along with. When in truth Flores had every right to be disgruntled because he was asked to lose games.

the problem with the giants is the Rooney rule, the team had to interview a minority candidate (or two) and they did want Daboll - they check the boxes to interview a certain number of people - same as gruden with raiders and many other hirings. Teams know who they want but interview coaches that have no shot

The very fact that Brian turned around the season from 1-5 to 9-8, with an opportunity to make a playoff appearance is a testament to what kind of coach he is. That Dolphins team at the end of the season looked wayyy better than earlier in the season.

Rich Eisen, in the world of overreactive hot takes and nonsensical media stories and contrived drama, remains to be the greatest voice in sports.

I'm sorry Bill B is smart enough to know who he's texting, this was his way of having Flores' back while sticking a little to the NFL who has in the past gone out of their way to make Belichick's life miserable.

Why are intelligent people “shocked” this has been an issue for years. It took someone to exploit the NFL owners.

"put yourself in this mans shoes" - exactly. a man of character surrounded by the sleaze of the business. and now will be scarlet letter'd. i wish the vikings would have gotten Brian Flores. good take Rich, well said.

I feel for the guy. If I had the money to own a team, I’d hire him. I believe in his integrity.

This is what you get when you create boxes the HAVE to be checked….. minus the 100k for losing a game. But never expect him to be fired in the first place
