According to me there are four applications of limitless :-

1. Neutral : teleportation, fly, float, infinity barrier

2. Attraction : Blue

3. Repel : Red

TLDR: Limitless Blue is the ability to contract space (as opposed to Red which is the ability to expand space). By creatively using his Blue, Gojo is able to move at basically instantaneous speeds from one location to another, from an outside perspective it looks like he's teleporting because of how fast it's happening, but it's not really teleportation, it's just moving faster than light.

A very clear and realistic example of this is the real world concept of warp drives.

It's not wormhole sci-fi stuff, which people forget has never been studied empirically and is just a mathematical prediction of how space could break inside a singularity.

Warp drives use concepts that we have already empirically proven through gravitational lensing and space distortion, as it basically shrinks the space in front of a ship and stretches it behind the ship.
Shrunk space simulates normal gravity, pulling in mass and allowing distances to be traveled faster than usual.
Stretched space works like inverse gravity, which is the theoretical part, pushing mass away.

It's like digging a hole in front of the vehicle while placing a ramp behind. You're naturally going to move forward because the space is moving you, no need for internal acceleration.

Gojo moves by doing exactly this, but in 3D. reduces the distance between him and the target while stretching it at the departure point. His body "slides down the ramp" naturally to where he wants to go, very fast.

Important to point out that it still isn't actual teleporting because he can't just go through objects. It's still a straight line towards the target, going through normal space, just distorted. He can't pop in and out, as said by himself in the hidden inventory panel, he needs a path clear of obstacles.

During the shibuya incident, "Geto" explains that Gojo can't teleport while surrounded by non-sorecerers because "he would be like a truck"

In other words
Gojo's teleport does actually cover the distance he moves

As you say, it is not "dematerialize at point A, rematerialize at point B"
It's actually "move instantly from point A to point B"
He still covers all that distance

Additionally, in regards to the limits of teleportation

I forget where I saw it, but in a statement from Gege explaining Gojo's powers, he just says "it only works in certain circumstances" and draws Gojo saying "I took the bullet train to Sendai, you know?"

I think your explanation of its limits is very satisfying and probably better than what Gege actually thought of
