I love eyedroppers. Even with a Preppy eyedroppered I still carry a spare eyedropper pen because I write so much. Ive gone through 1ml with a Japanese XF nib in a day.

As usual; entertaining, and informative. Cheers!

Useful! Better-built pens I've converted like the Preppy seem to operate just fine, but in my exploration of Indian pens I've acquired a number of eyedropper-only pens that regurgitate ink like a gassy baby barfs tapioca. I'll try your tapping trick on some of these.

You could also get the blunt syringes from daiso

One question I have is even piston fillers are a kind of eyedroppers and so are cartridge/converters because the air and ink concept applies to them also. So are these problems of burping and vomiting applicable to them?

Manuscript fountain pens from England use eyedropper conversion.

The highlight of the video is when you toss the eyedropper away in a video explaining eyedropper pen!

Thanks for making this training series for the dumbasses among us.

Good summary; here's a couple more tips:
* after filling: you don't have to wait -- point it nib-down and partly un-screw then re-screw the grip-section to use that air pressure to force ink into the feed so you can write right away.
* On airplanes, cabin pressure drops as you're gaining altitude -- so I leave all fountain pens nib-up during takeoff, and I find them ready to use at cruising altitude

This is why I use ballpoint pens while in the air. Why tempt fate?

However, I may be tempted to use a Japanese eyedropper pen like the C4 or an Opus 88 pen.

I do not have a penBBS 480. I have to look for one.

Oh my Jinhao X159 Frankenpen is going strong. With an O ring and a generous amount of silicone grease and a touch of Gorilla Glue, it has worked quite well.

Great information, Doug.

"Premature Blobbing" ...sounds like a serious medical condition! Doug did you ever successfully eyedropper that FPR pen?
