China's naval power is growing, having an impact on regional tensions and seeing ships from neighbouring nations targeted by Beijing's fleet.

However, according to one expert, China's navy is not trying to dominate the world's oceans, which begs the question, what is it trying to do?

Everyone should be concerned if US have biggest defense budget for straight 50 years.

China has not yet completed national reunification, and the United States has a circle of bases near China, and warships from other countries often come to "free navigation." Shouldn't China be worried?

Biggest navy using water cannon.. seems acceptable..

I disagree with the professor. You do not need 6 aircraft carriers and a 400 ship navy to attack an island 100 miles from your shore.

Is USA forever friendly and good, should we be forever concerned?

All made with only 1.5% of GDP defense budget. Imagine 3% or 4.5% like US

The United States had the largest military in the world with the largest defence budget and the most foreign military bases. We did not see this news channel to post anything about being concerned.
So why should we be concerned with China changing the status quo and having the largest Navy…??

We need to stop relying on China to make cheap products for us!!
We need to be self reliant and start making our own stuff.

The US has over 200 military bases around China and 11 aircraft carriers and a $900bn budget.

People need to understand China doesn’t have the biggest navy in the world. The US does. China may have more ships however they don’t even get close when it comes to tonnage it’s something like 1/3 the size. This is because they count every fishing boat as part of their navy.

You only really have to worry if you insist on cutting off chinese territories when displaying a map of China.

Let's check back in a decade or so when China has 10 carriers, 50 nuclear submarines, 1, 500 fifth generation fighters, 100 stealth bombers, and 2000 nuclear warheads.

Not exactly, when the actually numbers are broken down. These statements tend to get blown out of context to fit a certain narrative.

The PLAN is by far the Largest Navy within the Asian Pacific Region ( 1st, 2nd Islands … ), But the PLAN is still currently Second Overall(Worldwide) to the USN at the moment in High End Assets / Fire Power ( Cruisers/Destroyers, Nuclear Attack Submarines ) .

Sometime by the Mid 2030s at its current pace the PRC/PLAN will most likely reach or even surpass the USN in High Assets and Fire Power.

If you get close to Chinese territory, the first thing to pay attention is China's long-range strike force, not its navy.

‘Not looking to attempt to dominate the world’s oceans’.

Strange because they are building naval ports in Africa and other places 🤦‍♂️

S. China Sea has been Chinese before the UK ever came to conduct it's aggressions in Asia. The PRC's claims are the exact same claim as Taiwan's (ROC) and was historically acknowledged by both Britain and France during the colonial era. Today, the main mairtime traffic that go through that area is predominantly to and from China...so yeah, they have a security interest in it. UK however, does not. Ridiculous that UK dares to send its ships to the area. As much sense as Chinese carriers in the Channel?

The short answer to the question is NO although any superpower must never let it’s guard down in the event of potential conflict. It is a concern in terms of the quantity of hardware of course, but the strength of any of the modern forces relies on three primary factors: the predominant is the history of overall experience, battlefield or otherwise; the quality of the combined Army, Air Force and Navy (unless that country is landlocked; and the third is how tight and organised the command structure is - we have and continue to see that Russia is a prime example of grand failure in this category.
