Glanum: Location and Geography
Glanum is located in southern France, nestled at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, near the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Its position on important trade routes contributed to its prosperity and growth in ancient times.

The beauty of Glanum is not only in its ancient ruins but also in its stunning natural surroundings. History of Glanum

However, in the 3rd century CE, Glanum was destroyed during barbarian invasions and was never rebuilt. The site was eventually abandoned, and for centuries, it remained buried beneath layers of earth until it was rediscovered by archaeologists in the 19th century.

Today, Glanum is one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in southern France. Its ruins tell the story of a once-thriving city that stood at the crossroads of Celtic, Greek, and Roman cultures.

Glanum’s Landmarks
