Portland is one 'stupid fast' year away from a completely overhauled city government

Elections for the expanded city council happen in November, with terms starting Jan. 1, 2025. But a lot of groundwork has to be laid before that can happen, and City Administrator Mike Jordan is trying to get a jump on it so that the new government isn't dealing with it all at once.

This will just cost taxpayers more then double what their paying now 11 million to 24 million already way to many public servants who are not doing their jobs properly this will make things worse and you will be flipping the bill

Yes, it's easy to take a shot at the language used. But it's not a cheap shot. I'm fed up by stupid language being used to talk about serious things. It's insane! The real meaning of insane, not the stupid currency usage. Stupid language does not get things done, does not do them right, and does not enable communication. If this transition really is stupid fast, then we should be proceeding more slowly, or else smarter. Stupid is as stupid does. And stupid talks about stupid.

... I'm out!.... Portland has been my home for almost 20 years and I'm moving out later this year. If it was up to me I would have left years ago.

Portland has went straight to hell in the past 10 years and is only getting worse with each passing day. If it is to survive it would need to go through fundamental changes on a societal level and honestly I don't see that happening.

As a result it signed its own death warrant and I won't be a part of it!

Portland - goodbye and good riddance! Don't expect me to come to your funeral!

Hiring a guy steeped in government to improve government by spending more money and likely expanding the bureaucracies and regulatory over reach. Typical. How about someone that reduces government and makes them do their jobs with accountability like businesses do. I know they say it isn't a business but they are suppose to provide a service and we are the customers and we pay for it. Sounds like business principles apply.

Honestly, this guy was well spoken. Making this change definitely isn't easy, but he seems to have a good handle on the scope of everything that's going to be happening in this change, which is important.

The most efficient thing govetnment does is reorganize and change job titles. Then nobody knows what department did the former job and more important, there is nobody responsible or accountable. Maybe if Portland reorganizes the police department, nobody will know they are short staff and defunded. 😅

Problem with city is we have too many old senoirs on city boards instead of younger, more attuned to root causes and creative innovative ideas. Those over 50 are out of tune with present times and concerned with self, future advancement & careers, ...get over yourselves and let new refreshing young blood into city positions.
