Do you rinse the stratum to remove the dust before putting it in the tank as is suggested by the manufacturer?

Thanks for the comparison on these two substrates. I would love to try the bio- stratum. I have used the regular Stratum before and loved it

Hello !
I bought volcano rock JBL by accident thinking it was stratum...
I grow tropical plants, do you think it is still olay to leave them in the volcano rocks or should I put them in stratum ?
All of this is very new for me so I'm trying to learn as much as possible
My goal is to drop soil and do stratum based semi hydro 😊
Thank you !

I love the stratum series, but if you want a pH around 7.0 or just a little higher for goldfish or African cichlid's should you buffer it some with some crushed coral or something? The original stratum lowered my pH from 7.8 to 6.4. I just changed the fish keep. I figure overtime it will level out some.

Hi thanks for the video. My question is what can I cap stratum with? It says on the back of the bag do not use other gravel?

Are there special considerations to be made regarding the ph differences when adding fish from tanks with higher ph, harder water to an aquarium with Fluval stratum substrate (of course providing that the fish being added prefer a more neutral or acidic ph? Also, will crushed coral support snails in a tank set up with stratum?

I’m currently in the process of waiting for the water to clear out. It’s been about 14 hours and it’s barely clearing up. Any advance on knowing when it’s safe to place your fish back in the tank?

Hello. I plan in few months to rescape my tank which is by now at least 2 years old and it is about time to do it. Now I have smaller holding tank I will use for my fish and some shrimps. What I am concerned is can i put my fish back in tank fast (small and cramped flat) if i use some start up liquids like from easy life or maybe like Fluval Cycle liquid to make tank habitable for fish as fast as possible? Also, to minimize Ammonia leech into water is it neccesary to cap substrate with gravel layer?

Does it have to be replaced? If so how long before it does?

So could you use the original as a bottom layer then top it of with the new version?

In regards to lowering PH, my tap water Ph is 8.0-8.4. How much will the soil lower this PH and how do water changes affect the parameters?

Is a Co2 set up needed with this substrate?

what is the difference between BIO and the regular Stratum? I ordered a bag of Bio and it says not to use it with some cichlids. I have angels and one pleco in a 50 gallon, I wanted to add this to the substrate I currently have now. Is this ok? I just added a bag to a smaller planted tank and I swear the plants are loving it - that tank currently has no fish but I swear this has given the plants a boost I have never seen before so I want to add it to the 50 gallon, I just got a small bag. What harm could it do?
