Tired of the ads and want this on your music player?

Subwoofer or headphones suggested.

I was inspired by fellow YouTuber coffee300am's amazing one hour version of this with a lot more sounds going on in it and I have gotten quite a few subscribers pleading with me to make a longer ambient style version so here you go.

" Sound from the great Krell machine. In the classic 1956 science fiction film, "Forbidden Planet", the extinct race of advanced beings of the planet Altair IV are known as the "Krell". The Krell had reached a stage of technological and scientific development so advanced that they were able to construct a machine with virtually unlimited power, a machine that turned their thoughts into reality. Over 60 years old and still one of the very best SF films ever made.

Great sci-fi movie. No traditional music in this film. Electronic tonalities instead. Plot based on Shakespeare's The Tempest. Excellent special effects. And we never see the Krell. One of the precious few sci-fi movies that goes really deep. Thanks for posting.

Freud, science fiction, electronic tonalities, and the 1950s = a legendary movie.

This movie came out 65 years ago, and I still think it's great.

I remember seeing this when I was super young and being absolutely terrified, especially when the Monster from the Id was tearing down the Krell door. Now as I re watch this movie, I can understand and appreciate the deeper messages. Definitely my favorite science fiction movie. The warnings this movie presents to us are still, if not more relevant today.

- It is incomprehensible to me that there are actually people in the USA that go thru their entire lives without seeing this remarkable film.
- Being instead, obsessed with mindless drivel called sports on a daily basis all their lives....

This movie was light years ahead of it's time(1956) - The seminal foundation of ALL Sci - Fi movies & concepts afterwards.

I have the DVD "tin" box of this movie which contains a small plastic recreation of Robby the Robot. But when I watch it I watch it on blu-ray which looks and sounds fantastic. It was very innovative in concept and special effects for its time. Did you know Disney did the animation for the id monster when it attacked the spaceship? Scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. I'm sure this movie was a big inspiration for the Star Trek series.

the core idea - that our primitive subconscious will overpower technology - is amazing.  freud would love it. i remember seeing this in the fifties and it still holds up. sure, hollywood can do better efx, but the concept never gets old.

At least we now know who built the great machine on Epsilon 3, the planet in whose orbit the Babylon 5 space station is located. It was the Krell. And if that's not right, then we know Joseph Michael Straczynski's inspiration for putting the big machine in B5.

I can feel my intelligence rising on the Krell mind machine but must be careful of the id. There are monsters in here you know. ;) The absolute best sci-fi movie out of the fifties.

There's something nightmarish about this sound. Very similiar to the sound design in Eraserhead. Alien and unsettling. There's a (macabre?) menace in it's undertones. Trippy stuff
