One time while I was on duty, we heard someone singing horrendously off-key over the radio. Turned out to be one of the E-7s. Military comms are something else.

Had a new medic in our medic platoon and was teaching her how to do a radio check. Told her it goes, "Hey you, this is me radio check over." We gave her our call sign and 1st sgts call sign. Ask her if she had any questions, and she said no. Picked up the radio and confidently said, "Hey you, this is me radio check over." Her team leader grabbed that raido so fast. Luckily for us, we had been out of radio contact with 1st sgt for like an hour already, and we were just waiting for the company to drive back up the road from the night excersize.

I remember reviewing mIRC chat in the JOC and the convoy commander was typed Vic 2 to ‘GFY’. I had to tell the CO who walked into the JOC that it meant ‘good for you’. He said “aw that’s nice they’re talking kind to each other” and left.
