this will dull your knife in no time, so you will have to do more sharpening... more importantly, if you own some high end knives, especially Japanese knives, you will damage them with this... wood is the way to go...select maple, walnut, or cherry...end grain if you can...

Common sense, some basic engineering knowledge and years of cooking experience lead me to conclude. This chipping board is good for hygiene purposes. That's it. Everything other aspect about using this board is unsatisfied. It will ruin the edge of the knives, will be super uncomfortable. Imagine chipping parsley over this steel plaque. No good.
